Norm worked in the steel industry for a number of years after obtaining his engineering degree. He decided to return to university for the study of law and received his Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie University. He articled with an intellectual property firm in Ottawa, Canada. After completing his articles he was admitted into the practice of law in Ontario, Canada and the same year passed the qualifying examinations to become a Registered Canadian Patent Agent. He subsequently qualified as a Registered Canadian Trademark Agent and was admitted into the Bar of the Province of British Columbia, Canada as a lawyer in 1990. He is also qualified to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office for residents of Canada.
Since then has carried on a practice in Vancouver, Canada as a lawyer and a patent and trademark agent. This practice is now known as Cameron IP. Norm has had extensive experience in patents, trademarks, licensing of intellectual property and other aspects of intellectual property law. He has obtained hundreds of patents, trademarks and industrial design registrations and has drafted many agreements relating to intellectual property. He has served a wide range of clients, some for more than 20 years, including individual inventors, medium and large corporations, lawyers and patent and trademark agents in countries outside Canada.
